nominations Human Rights Defenders Tulip 2011
Since 2008 the Dutch government awards the Human Rights Defenders Tulip to a person who has shown exceptional courage in protecting and promoting human rights.
Therefore, we would like to inform you that the nominations for the annual Human Rights Defenders Tulip are currently open for all eligible human rights defenders worldwide.
The daily work of the nominee must involve the peaceful protection or promotion of human rights. The candidate must also stand benefit from the recognition and visibility entailed in winning the award and must be nominated as an individual, not as an organization.
The winner will receive a bronze statuette and financial support (max. 100.000 €) for a human rights project.
As part of the prize the Dutch government and the secretary of the Human Rights Defenders Tulip Award will organize a tour for the winner throughout Europe to strengthen its network and build relations in the field of human rights.
The ceremony will take place on the 10th of December in The Hague in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

the nominee
procedure closes on June the 15th of 2011. An independent jury will examine the applications and the Minister of Foreign Affairs will present the award to the winner.
