Legalisation of documents
Legalisation of Iraqi documents for use in the Netherlands:
The Consulate General of the Kingdom of The Netherlands is not authorised to legalise Iraqi documents for use in the Netherlands. Iraqi documents should be sent to the Iraqi Embassy in The Hague, The Netherlands for Legalisation. After this legalisation the documents should be forwarded to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, department Legalisation which will legalise the signature of the official of the Iraqi embassy. After this the documents may be legally used in The Netherlands.
For more information on legalizations of Iraqi documents for use in the Netherlands please consult:
The Legalisation Division of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Open for telephone enquiries from Monday to Friday from 09.00 - 12.30 on telephone number: 070- 348.4787 or 070 - 348.5901 / faxnumber: 070-348.6675
Both the Dutch authorities and the authorities of other countries need to be certain about the status of each other’s documents. Legalisation confirms that a document was issued by someone with the proper authority and that the signatures it bears are genuine. Some documents need to be signed by several different authorities in order to be legalised. This is called the legalisation chain.
